8-9-12

On Thursday, the 9th, I went with a turkey and bacon wrap, an egg roll, and a cupcake for lunch:

The lady didn't offer to panini press it, so I just nuked it once I got it back to the office. It was ok, it needed something, maybe I'll see if they have some  honey mustard they can spread around the inside of it next time. The egg roll was pretty good, they're still not as good as they used to be. They're still making these evile cupcakes, and they're still stupidly tasty.

Didn't have dinner, but after the game, Jody, Grynner and I ventured to the old IHOP as we've not done in ages. I was fairly hungry, so I went with the country fried steak breakfast:

The pancakes were outstanding and finally quenched my pancake craving. I didn't even realize I was still having the pancake craving until I ate the first bite of them. The eggs were really good, and the hashbrowns were really good, for IHOP's. Still didn't hold a candle to Waffle House's. The country fried steak was the let down here, it was riddled with way too much connective tissue, so much so that I didn't eat much more than what you see in that pic. The flavor was good, but it was just a bad cut of meat, and I was so full off the other stuff on the plates (Jody got an appetizer sampler, so I had a chicken tender, a cheese stick and some onion rings off of it) I didn't finish it.

Thursday, 8-2-12

On Thursday, the cafeteria had their Salisbury steak, so I went with that:

I added an egg roll, some mashed potatoes and gravy and some English/sweet peas. The steak was pretty good, but still way too tough for Salisbury steak. The gravy was tasty as usual. The potatoes were pretty good and great with the gravy. The peas were very good. They should carry them a lot more often. Nice and plump and they pleasantly popped in your mouth. The egg roll was ok, they seem to be going downhill on their quality lately.

Thursday, the 26th

Not much to say, or at least that I can remember to say. I had chicken fried rice and a couple of egg rolls:

The rice was just ok. It was a little too ... goopey I guess. The egg rolls were pretty good though, as usual.

Thursday 7-19-12

On Thursday, I went with some chicken fried rice and a couple of egg rolls from the cafeteria. The reason I went with 2, is they had some shrimp in addition to the usual chickens.

The fried rice was ok, nothing great, but at least it was filling. The standard chicken egg roll was really good. The shrimp one ... well, it didn't so much taste like shrimp in there as it did the chicken, but it smelled really strongly of shrimp. So much so, that I wasn't able to finish it.

That night, I attended a showing of Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, and then the Midnight premier of The Dark Knight Rises. As usual for my movie going, I went with a corn dog and a Frozen Coke with the Batman Begins showing. Nothing else for the rest of the night.

Ethnic Thursday

I was fairly hungry on Thursday after only having one meal on Wednesday. And I was actually having a Chinese craving, so I got lucky at the cafeteria that day. One of the exhibition stations was doing chicken fried rice and egg rolls:

Being hungry, I grabbed 2 egg rolls (and they were a bit skinnier than usual) and some fried rice. The egg rolls were not as good as usual, but they were still good. The fried rice was tasty.

For dinner that night, Jesse and I went with a $10 box from Pizza Hut. As you can tell, I forgot to grab a before pic, so here's what it looked like when we were done:

It had a thing of cheese sticks, a breadstick pan pizza that had sausage, pepperoni and extra cheese and some cinnamon sticks. It was all GREAT. It got there while everything was still hot and gooey (hence the forgetting of the pic).

Weak sauce

Sorry for the long break in posts. #1 I was lazy, and #2 I had issues getting the pics uploaded from my phone.

As a result, I'm foggy on a lot of this and will be going off of the pics to try and remember the food.

On Thursday (28th of June for those keeping up), I had a salad and an egg roll for lunch:

The egg roll was good, the salad was pretty good. There's some ham and chicken hidden under the first layer of greens there. I managed to get a really good amount of dressing on there, not too much nor too little.

I don't remember what I had for dinner that night, I'm thinking it was Buffalo Wild Wings ribs and boneless wings combo. I know I had it one Thursday night, and I'm thinking that was the one. In any case, it was pretty good, the "wings" were pretty weak, but the ribs were really good.

Trifecta

On Thursday, I had a trifecta of sorts. I hit up food from 3 different ethnicities. For lunch, I went with the cafeteria's wonderful country fried steak, mashed potatoes with gravy and one of their egg rolls:

The steak was good as usual, the potatoes were pretty good, the gravy outstanding and the egg roll was deliciously meat filled as usual.

For dinner that night, Jody, Jesse and I hit up the Pizza Hut's box meal, which was a "medium pan pizza" (in actuality their bread sticks with sauce, cheese and toppings, which I LOVE) cheese sticks and cinnamon sticks. We went with a meat lover's for the pizza. It got delivered in a timely manner (unlike the last time) and as a result, was nice and warm and appropriately gooey. Unfortunately, I didn't think to get a pic of it, so here's a tiny pic of the generic item from Pizza Hut's website:

Big food Thursday

For lunch on Thursday, I had some of my leftover chicken noodle soup, and the cafeteria was doing chicken fried rice, so I grabbed one of their great egg rolls

The egg roll was plenty meaty, as I got a shot to show. The soup had thickened up so much, I only had a portion in the cup, and had to add some hot water from the fountain and nuke it to make it back into a soup as opposed to more of a casserole consistency.

For dinner, Jesse and I hit up the Longhorn steakhouse. I went with a salad, and their Shrimp Scampi Filet.

I forgot to get a pic before working on the salad. It was much fuller than that beforehand, I assure you. Oh and it had Italian dressing. I've been trying to branch out from my usual honey mustard dressing I get on them. I didn't finish it, as my lunch was very filling and I wanted to be sure I could eat all of the steak.

I did manage to remember to get a pic of the steak before I ate it, however not before I ate the three big shrimp that were on top of it. It was very good, nice and tender, good seasoning and the shrimp and other stuffing was a nice compliment. The baked potato was cooked well, but their salt shaker didn't want to dispense the salt out of it, so the potato suffered from that.

Chinese Food

On Wednesday, I had some Chinese chicken fried rice and a pork egg roll for lunch. The cafeteria usually does a pretty good job on those 2 dishes, and this occasion was no different.

I generally don't care for egg rolls, but the ones they serve at the cafeteria is more meat than veggies and what have you, plus it's seasoned very well. They prepare the rice when you order it, so it may take a little longer in line, but it's very much worth it.
