Stir Fry and Pizza

The boss took us to lunch on the 31st of July to Benihana. They got some sushi rolls and shimp tempura for appetizers:

The sushi was pretty good, and the shrimp was tasty as well. Nice texture on the batter. Next up was the salad:

I'm usually not to big on salads, especially Japanese, but their dressing wasn't too strong. So, all in all, it was a pretty good salad. Next was the chicken fried rice:

This came out pretty good, but could've used a bit more pepper and soy sauce in the cooking. And the main dish, which I forgot to get a picture of, was their beef julienne and some yakisoba noodles. The beef was cooked well, but I always forget they put that sweetish teriyaki sauce on there at the end, instead of cooking it in there. For me, that kind of ruins it, flavor wise. The noodles were ok, but they didn't add any real flavors to them in the cooking. I was kind hoping they'd do the steak with them, but oh well.

Thursday, the 26th

Not much to say, or at least that I can remember to say. I had chicken fried rice and a couple of egg rolls:

The rice was just ok. It was a little too ... goopey I guess. The egg rolls were pretty good though, as usual.

Thursday 7-19-12

On Thursday, I went with some chicken fried rice and a couple of egg rolls from the cafeteria. The reason I went with 2, is they had some shrimp in addition to the usual chickens.

The fried rice was ok, nothing great, but at least it was filling. The standard chicken egg roll was really good. The shrimp one ... well, it didn't so much taste like shrimp in there as it did the chicken, but it smelled really strongly of shrimp. So much so, that I wasn't able to finish it.

That night, I attended a showing of Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, and then the Midnight premier of The Dark Knight Rises. As usual for my movie going, I went with a corn dog and a Frozen Coke with the Batman Begins showing. Nothing else for the rest of the night.

Ethnic Thursday

I was fairly hungry on Thursday after only having one meal on Wednesday. And I was actually having a Chinese craving, so I got lucky at the cafeteria that day. One of the exhibition stations was doing chicken fried rice and egg rolls:

Being hungry, I grabbed 2 egg rolls (and they were a bit skinnier than usual) and some fried rice. The egg rolls were not as good as usual, but they were still good. The fried rice was tasty.

For dinner that night, Jesse and I went with a $10 box from Pizza Hut. As you can tell, I forgot to grab a before pic, so here's what it looked like when we were done:

It had a thing of cheese sticks, a breadstick pan pizza that had sausage, pepperoni and extra cheese and some cinnamon sticks. It was all GREAT. It got there while everything was still hot and gooey (hence the forgetting of the pic).

Fried Rice again

Fried rice attempt again. This time, I baked a chicken breast (it was EXCELLENT, I almost hated to cut it up and toss it in there) and had my roommate work on the rice with the rice cooker. Once that was done, I tossed it into a frying pan and fried it up with an egg, some butter, garlic powder and soy sauce, and the cut up chicken breast:

I'm not sure if I over fried part of the rice, or if I didn't let it sit in the cooker long enough after the cook light went off, but I had some overly crunchy rice again. But, I got the flavorings so right between the chicken, soy sauce and seasonings, I ate it all anyway.

Chinese Food

On Wednesday, I had some Chinese chicken fried rice and a pork egg roll for lunch. The cafeteria usually does a pretty good job on those 2 dishes, and this occasion was no different.

I generally don't care for egg rolls, but the ones they serve at the cafeteria is more meat than veggies and what have you, plus it's seasoned very well. They prepare the rice when you order it, so it may take a little longer in line, but it's very much worth it.
