Sunday's Hibachi Dinner

I didn't eat much on Sunday, so I hit up the local Japanese place for a big dinner. I started with the soup and salad:

The soup was good, the salad was just ok. Next course, which I forgot to get a picture of, was a crunchy shrimp roll. It was really good, hence me forgetting to get the pic.

The main course was hibachi grilled shrimp, steak and chicken (with zucchini, onions and mushrooms) and an order of fried rice:

You can't really see the shrimp, but it's hiding behind the bowl of fried rice. The shrimp was good, the chicken and steak were outstanding. The onion was pretty good, and the squash was really good. The rice was pretty good as well, it was much better once I got it mixed in with the juices from the steak.

Steak night

For Sunday, I went to see Snow White and the Huntsman with Mom, Sis and her boyfriend. I had a frozen coke and a pretzel there for lunch. I didn't get a picture of it, and it's probably for the best. But it was pretty tasty.

For dinner, I went with another flat iron steak and some zucchini.

That steak is an outstanding cut each time I've had it. Full of flavor, very tender and usually only one little piece of fat that you can't really deal with. Which is surprising, because it looks like there's a large piece that runs down the middle that you'll have an issue with. But it has cooked down into almost nothing each time I've made one of these. And for usually around $6 or $7 at Kroger, that's a lot of meat for your buck. I highly recommend it.

The steak and zucchini were salted, peppered, a little bit of garlic powder and olive oil (on the steak). As the steak was almost done, I tossed a little bit of butter in there, and then some more on top of the zucchini. The rolls are Sister Schubert's brown and serve yeast rolls.

In which Tab has a heart attack

I finally managed to get that salad for lunch:

It's whatever the salad mix they had at the cafeteria was, which looked like lettuce, carrots, red cabbage or lettuce. I added ham chunks, chicken chunks, bacon bits and a little bit of Italian dressing.

For dinner, I went with a flat iron steak (seasoned with olive oil, salt, pepper and some all purpose seasoning) and a zucchini squash cut up and fried in the steak's juices along with some butter and soy sauce:

And here's how it looked after cooking (in which I got the squash a little too done on one side):

All in all, I did a pretty good job. The steak was nice and tender, and I got the squash pretty well cooked this time.
